Selectrail is representative for Intelligence on Wheels in Australia and New Zealand
Selectrail and Intelligence on Wheels (IoW) are proud to announce that both companies have signed a contract allowing Selectrail to bring IoW’s innovative, award winning train collision avoidance technology to the Australian railways. The technology leverages a safety overlay system design very successful in aeronautics to the railway system. By being independent of and complementing existing infrastructure components, the technology can be installed using onboard components only. This way, the new “safety net” can be retro-fitted train by train, lifting the safety level from whatever is there today to a new level. “The Australian railway system with thousands of km of mostly non electrified track network and many very cost sensitive industrial, mining, and local passenger railway operators open to cost effective innovation is a perfect opportunity for our technology”, says IoW’s CEO Thomas Strang. “IoW’s technology extends our portfolio of high quality railway signalling products”, emphasizes Selectrail’s CEO Michael Strike. Both companies want to provide German engineering paired with local, fast and professional service to further strengthen the Australian railway system for a sustainable future.
Selectrail (Australia) Pty Ltd have been operating as a leading rail equipment provider since 1993 and concentrate on supplying high quality technology sourced from overseas to the Australian railway market. Selectrail focus on complete consumer experience and provide a unique service offering within the B2B market sphere. As the go-to company for axle counter and relay technology Selectrail are the most active in this area. An independent company, Selectrail also develop their own innovations as well as sourcing world leading equipment. This allows Selectrail to be flexible enough to choose the best products in the world and bring them to the Australian rail industry.
Intelligence on Wheels (Germany), founded in 2012, is a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) committed to the commercialization of an innovative train collision avoidance system. It is our vision that every train will be equipped with our technology as additional means of technical train protection. In doing so, the safety level will be lifted from whatever safety technology is installed along the track or in the train to a higher level. Our product can be permanently or temporarily installed on any rail vehicle including construction & maintenance vehicles. It can also be used to protect track workers. A variety of related services are offered to the customers, including for instance the generation of electronic maps.
